Week of September 13 - Ocean

Saturday

On Saturday we went to SeaQuest with our friends Ben and Sofya. The aquarium is one of my favorite places to take the kids. It's fairly calm, and even Luke can get into it at 14 months old. In fact, he may have enjoyed looking at all of the sea creatures the most!

Charlotte was SO brave and fed fish with huge mouths, an iguana, and a tortoise and pet a hedgehog and rabbit. I was seriously proud of her and had so much fun watching how far she's come. I don't think she would have gone within 50 feet of a worker and an animal a year and a half ago.

Monday

After a fun morning at the park with Sofya and Ben, Charlotte crafted her little heart out with Sofya. It was very cute to watch, especially because Sofya had 0 interest in kids growing up while I was obsessed with spending as much time as I could with any and all kids. Char went off to pre-school in the afternoon and then we played and took a trip to get some ice cream at Sweet Cow!

Tuesday

Today we spent our last few hours with Sofya and Ben, did some under the sea yoga and then sent Charlotte off to pre-school.

After pre-school we had a little bit of time until Charlotte's piano lesson, so we hung out and had a snack outside. Charlotte and Clesse found a rabbit and kept tiptoeing over to it. I absolutely love when they get along like that so well and enjoy each other's company!

Wednesday

Charlotte was ALL in on ocean week and designed and executed her own name craft. I was so proud of her. Look at that amazing octopus!

Afterwards we made some ocean suncatchers. I used my Cameo to cut shapes from some free cut files I found online and had the kids stick them onto contact paper with a black frame. We put them on our glass sliding door and it honestly is beautiful. I can't believe what tissue paper can do!

Afterwards Charlotte helped Clesse through a letter J dabber worksheet. She was so cute and sweet about giving him hints where the J was!

After picking Charlotte up at the pre-school we headed over to the library and spent like an hour and a half looking at books! What a dream come true for this bookworm of a mama. Good thing I brought the stroller because there was 0 chance of me carrying out all of those books and three kiddos in my arms 😂. When we got home, Clesse lined up all of the books he had picked out and told me to take a picture.

Thursday

I found this cute under the sea graph and had one printed out for each kid. Clesse worked on placing the stickers on a row while sis very independently counted and colored. She's a pro at it now! And Clesse is getting there. While I tried to help Clesse count, Luke decided it would be fun to speedily climb onto the table and dump everything out of the containers I had 😬

Since Charlotte finished before Clesse, she started working on this cute jellyfish craft. We bent the pipe cleaners into the letter "J" like the blog recommended. I didn't give any Charlotte any instruction, but she on her own put the Froot Loops in the order of the rainbow and in descending order. I'm honestly amazed by that sweet little girl!
Our last activity for the day was this experiment with paper fish and dishwashing soap. Charlotte and I experimented with different size fishies and also found out that the experiment doesn't work in water that already has had dishwashing soap touch it. Most of these discoveries and trials were led by her. I love her little science brain!

Sunday

Our last activity for the week was this cute flipping fish. I think Kev and I were slightly more entertained by it than the kids (although that partly was because we're taller, so the effect is much more drastic when we throw them). Charlotte was also pretty mad that I cut out one of the strips instead of her (see grumpy face 😂 ). Kids will be kids!

  1. Ocean week looks like a real winner!!! So much fun and learning and growth packed into one week. Library visits are some of my sweetest memories when our kids were growing up :) I love seeing how Charlotte and Clesse are each gaining skills with every new weeks. It's sweet to see them having fun together and getting braver. Loved seeing the fun books Clesse chose that match his personality and interests - even love Charlotte's "grumpy face". We all have our moments! Luke just jumps right in, too, and has fun right along with his siblings. It is so cute when they are getting along and having fun together. Thanks for sharing!
    Love always,
    Mom H.
