Week of October 11 until the end of October - Fall & Halloween

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

We got to tag along with Charlotte's pre-school on a field trip to the Cottonwood Farms Pumpkin Patch. They have some really cute farm animals that you can pet if they come up to you and some antique tractors that Clesse had a blast looking at. Charlotte had a ton of fun with her classmates and it was so cute to see her be a student instead of my daughter for a little bit!

Fall Leaf People

Thanks to our local library, we got a craft kit and instructions to make this adorable little fall leaf people craft. We went looking for all kinds of shapes and sizes of leaves outside. When we came in, Charlotte decided to make her family. I'm just loving how she puts herself next to Clesse and how she made Koko so small 😍

Handprint Tree

This was the second craft in the bag we got from the library, a sweet little tree. For Charlotte and Clesse we traced their hands and arms to create the tree trunk and branches. Koko doesn't quite have that patience, so I just cut out a tree shape and he glued his little heart out and put papers down wherever they would stick.

Monster Snacks

For snack here and there, I've been creating monster snacks for the kiddos. I have a ton of fun setting them up, and then the kids get to rearrange the parts to make their own little monsters, or if you're Clesse, a police car.

Halloween Poster

I got out a bunch of Halloween cookie cutters and cut a big piece of butcher paper so we could make what Charlotte called a "Halloween Flag". She did an awesome job filling in the detail after tracing the shape, and Koko and Clesse enjoyed the free range with the markers.

Minion Play-Doh Halloween Costumes

I had a blast with the kids designing some Halloween costumes with this cute Play-Doh set. I started off by making a unicorn with Charlotte, then moved on to making a cute little pirate with Clesse. While I was working with Clesse, Charlotte went ahead and made her own Play-Doh creation that she was very proud of.

Witch Potions

It's been a little while since we've played with baking soda and vinegar, so we got out these cute cauldrons I got last year and put baking soda and some food coloring in each one. Then we added lemon juice, lime juice, vinegar or water into each cauldron to see if there were any differences in how they bubbled. Then the kids got free range on making their potions. Charlotte added glue and a bunch of stuff into hers (there's no stopping that girl) and Clesse poured back and forth between a bowl and the cauldron. Koko was seriously SO cute when he first saw the baking soda and vinegar react, I was so happy that he enjoyed it as much as his older siblings.

Skeleton Anatomy

I found this skeleton gel cling at the Dollar Spot in Target and thought it would be a great diagram and manipulative for the kids to learn some body parts. Actually, it was too good of a manipulative, because Koko was ALL over it. He loved how it stretched and stuck to his hands and the poster board. After we got the skeleton set up on the dry erase poster, I wrote down the body parts that the kids named and Charlotte practiced writing by tracing them with another color.

Alphabet Monsters

I grabbed this little number from Dollar Tree. It has stickers and the goal is to feed each monster with the an item that starts with the letter of the alphabet written on it. Clesse was very eager to get the bus in his monster's belly, and Charlotte very patiently helped him peel the stickers for whichever food he was hoping to place on. She's getting really good at knowing her beginning letters, but some of them she just has to memorize, like G is for giraffe instead of a J. English can really be tricky sometimes!

Comments

  1. You are such a fun mom! Looks like October was a blast for everyone and because of your efforts in taking pictures and posting, the kids will always be able to look back and remember the fun they had together with each other and with you.
    Love always,
    Momma H.
