Monday
We're getting close to Charlotte being back in pre-school full time, so I let her take the reigns on choosing this week's theme - bug week! It's funny because she's always telling me she's scared of bugs, but is absolutely obsessed with them. A few weeks ago I picked up these rainbow worms kits from the dollar spot at Target. They were so worth every penny! Really easy to set up, huge wow factor, and the kids were able to do it by themselves once they were shown how.
Tuesday
We spent a lot of the day running around. In the morning we went right as the kids got up and dressed to a park to say good-bye to some really great friends from church. We are seriously going to miss them so much! Charlotte and their 6 year old decided to build "bug palaces" using rocks, sticks and other things and it was hard to drag the two of them away from their project when it was time to go.
While the boys napped, Charlotte and I got out her KiwiCo box for the month which had the theme of colors. She build a really beautiful nightlight using pony beads and some foam cutouts we got. She's got it in her bedroom right now!
After the boys woke up, we caught some butterflies that our lovely Elefun friend shot out, and then it was off to piano! Charlotte has been practicing really diligently this weekend and I know her hard work paid off because those pages she practiced have star stickers on them! When we got home, we were all really surprised to see this little guy on our porch. So fuzzy!
Wednesday
We made bugs with fruit! I seriously had a blast doing this with the kids and they loved having some edible art (having some Nutella was a bonus for them too!). I was so impressed with what Charlotte was able to do on her own. She even made a mouse after that I gave her zero direction on. It was really good!
Thursday
Charlotte started off this morning making a cute dragonfly craft ("Mom, I LOVE popsicle stick crafts") while her brothers got dressed. She used watercolors on the wings and I'm super excited with her attention to detail. And anything with googly eyes always makes her happy!
In the afternoon Clesse was really wanting to paint, so I got out some of these cute bug printables. Koko even joined in with his own magic coloring pad that reveals colors with just water. Since he still puts everything in his mouth, having him use real paint just seemed like a bad idea ๐
Friday
Uncle Bryan is in town!!! We spent the morning outside with him and used some chalk decals I picked up in the dollar spot at Target. Charlotte picked Blue's Clues and Clesse picked superheroes.
We spent a lot of time on scooters and bikes and mostly played in the morning!
Saturday
used the dabber (he did great with that, but didn't always keep it in the box he was supposed to). After a while I told him to just dab his little heart away!
After that I got out some bug stampers that I've had since Charlotte was a little toddler. I was very proud of Charlotte because when Clesse was using the spider stamper that she wanted to use she didn't try to get it from him, but instead decided to paint her own spider design on her leaf!
Wow! What a fun bug week! Your kiddos are getting more and more creative all of the time, taking after their beautiful momma :) Sure love all the fun adventures you're having on your way to learning. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteLove always,
Momma H.
I wish I was your kid! And it looks like Clesse still prefers "just legs!" Hahaha! Miss you guys!
