Week of August 23 - Cookies

 Monday

Cookie week!! Partly inspired by Charlotte and my craving for cookies last week πŸ˜„

We had some ripe bananas and decided to make banana oatmeal cookies to start off our week. The kids helped me pour ingredients, stir and then add the chocolate chips to the cookies. I used this as an opportunity to have them count as they put chocolate chips into each cookie. Charlotte ended up having the cookie with 4 chocolate chips (since she's 4), Clesse had the one with 2 chocolate chips, and Koko ate/crumbled up the one with 1 chocolate chip. It was super fun to have them all so engaged in something I enjoy to do!

Tuesday

Charlotte and I have been obsessed with making these little kawaii clay figures. I got a book from the library that breaks them down into very manageable pieces, and we have a blast doing it together! Sometimes Koko and Clesse are patient enough to play with some clay while we work on our projects, but I think Charlotte and I could do this all day if we wanted to.

Once the boys were sleeping, Charlotte and I opened up her KiwiCo box for the month. We recently upgraded her to the 5-7 year range box, and I'm really happy we did. This month's box is mirrors, and we started by making this trick box. We brought it down to Kev and he was super confused, Charlotte got a real kick out of it!

In the afternoon we made cookie dough playdough. I stumbled across this while browsing on Pinterest and it looked pretty fun, plus since it's taste safe Koko could play with it and I didn't have to worry too much about getting every little bit out of his mouth. It's made out of frosting and corn starch, and I was surprised at how well it came together! I didn't have white frosting, so I opted for making chocolate cookies with chocolate frosting.

Wednesday

This is one of the few pictures I have from Wednesday. Mostly I was running around doing a few errands with the boys while big sis stayed home with Kev and did a few pre-school worksheets. Look how naughty my little guy is! He sucked in his belly that was snug in the seatbelt so he could turn and stand up πŸ˜‚

Thursday

The kids were SO cute this morning. I gobbled it all up, hoping to capture some really sweet moments for when they start to fight with each other all the time! 😜

When we got back from the park, I got out some cookie letters. I found a cookie jar printable here that has you match a picture to the first letter in each word. I thought it would be too easy for Charlotte, but it actually did provide a little bit of a challenge, which I was happy about! Most of this summer has just been for fun for her rather than challenging her. While sis worked on the more difficult activity, Clesse fed our friendly unicorns from last week some cookies.
While Clesse took a much needed nap, Charlotte and I practiced drawing some cute kawaii items. She is sooo good and patient with this type of activity. And Koko really wanted to join in, so we got him a pencil to join in with! After a little bit of TV, Charlotte pulled out our science experiment book and picted to make a foamy explosion that uses hydrogen peroxide and yeast. It turned out really cool even though it was fairly old yeast and 3% hydrogen peroxide instead of 6%.

Friday

I found a library that has story time!! Our usual library hasn't held anything like that since March 2020, but I came across the Anythink library branches and they're holding outside story times. It felt so normal, and Charlotte and the boys were so into it!

It was a make and take story time, so afterwards the kids got to make straw rockets. While the big kids worked on that, Koko crawled over to a baby in a car seat and did NOT like when I tried to pick him up. At least the other mom thought it was cute and didn't seem to mind πŸ˜…

In the afternoon, Charlotte and I got our much needed craft time. I made this cookie that I'm pretty proud of, and when Clesse woke up he let me know, "Wow! So CAYOOOT!"

Sunday

Charlotte has been BEGGING me to make cookies that we could frost, so while the boys napped we made some sugar cookies and frosting. Clesse joined in on the decorating after dinner and baths. He kind of just blobbed white frosting all over, and when I told him it looked like a bunny he told me, "No...it's a rock". But when I flipped the cookie around for him, he saw the face and ears and was ECSTATIC! It was one of the cutest things.

  2. I have literally never even heard of a banana cookie, let alone eaten one. I'm definitely adding that to my list! Braddock got some clay from the Target Dollar spot and we have spent WAY too many hours making animals lately. We are birds of a feather!
